Alex Claude – Landscape as a material for sensation

Between abstraction and reminiscence, Alex Claude paints imaginary landscapes that are as disturbing as they are soothing. Each canvas is a sensory journey: drips, erasures, rubbings, and transparencies overlap in a rare mastery of gesture.

A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris with honors, he developed a pictorial language in which the gaze loses its bearings but never its emotion. Without preparatory drawing, he instinctively composes suspended spaces, distant horizons, like so many echoes of an inner world.

Present in the collections of the BNF (National Library of France) and museums in France and internationally, Alex Claude regularly exhibits in galleries, fairs, and institutions. His work, recognized for its atmospheric depth, attracts collectors and lovers of contemporary painting.

Presentation

French painter, lives and works in France.

Graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Paris with congratulations from the jury (1997).

"Alex Claude fully assumes the play of brushes and brushes, the effect of drips, the erasure of colors, the rubbing of the material and the consequences of the palimpsest. His mastery is revealed in his workshop: the execution of the first jets - organized without preparatory drawings - until the intense and methodical completion (...) Always singular framing, a horizon line generally placed quite high, plans defining distant perspectives, points of view in diving are all elements of composition that make the viewer lose the usual visual cues. And yet, nothing is illegible in these representations. "
