Born in Hauterive, Quebec, in 1964, André Desjardins is a multidisciplinary artist known for his works imbued with serenity and depth. From an early age, he developed a fascination with creation, space, and artistic expression, which led him to study graphic design in Montreal. After a successful career in communications, he made a decisive shift to devote himself fully to art, guided by his muse, Hélène Bélanger-Martin.
For over 25 years, Desjardins has been building a deeply personal body of work that bridges painting and sculpture, driven by a quest for inner peace and equanimity. His paintings and sculptures alike invite contemplation, offering a pause amid the turmoil of the world. Each figure he creates—whether painted or sculpted—appears suspended between fragility and strength, in a state of assumed wholeness.
His creations quickly resonated with collectors in Canada, the United States, and internationally. His sensitive and timeless style brought him recognition on the North American art scene, notably through a collaboration with the prestigious American agency Masterpiece Publishing.
Desjardins is also the author of powerful monumental works, including the sculpture , installed in Magog, and more recently, a public artwork centered on mutual aid and the environment.
Working without a model, he favors an intuitive approach where hand and consciousness meet. For him, painting is sculpting with light; sculpting is meditating with matter. His work is deeply rooted in feeling, in connection to the living world, and in the desire to soothe and uplift.
Today, his artworks are part of numerous private and public collections. Large-scale projects are in development, always guided by the same vision: to create spaces of beauty, reflection, and presence.
