In the spaces between things...
I wanted to talk about routine, about our daily life. I wanted to give it a more poetic and aesthetic sense, turning it into something more bearable and bearable, as if the routine did not seem routine. As if the routine did not seem routine, and in that effort, I found myself with things! Yes, the things, all those objects, clothes, junk, junk ... that share space and time with us. They are silent witnesses of our days followed by other days, days full of problems, misunderstandings, hopes, fears, joys? And I also discovered a brief fragment of the book that I was reading at the time and that, without looking for it, accompanied me and helped me in the construction of this exhibition. In "Sunset Park" (Paul Auster, 2010) one of the characters of this novel was Ellen Brice, a painter, finds herself lost in her life, lost in her art and her days and above all and most tragic being a painter, lost "in saying nothing". She understands then, that she must start again and says:
"I wanted to paint pictures that would evoke the quiet wonder of pure objecthood, the sacred ether that breathes in the spaces between things, to express human existence in a meticulous rendering of all that is out there, beyond us, around us..."

Belén García Montoya (Gijón, Asturias, 1975). She is graduated in Fine Arts in Seville (1993 - 1998), although she studied her first years at the University of Salamanca.
Begmont is the pseudonym she uses to sign her work, which is irremediably linked to her, since she was born as such.
Urban art, comics and illustration are at the genesis of her aesthetics. He usually builds scenes full of color, formed by one or several pieces, where a story is told and where there is no aesthetic or thematic separation. He tries, from his works, to make available to the viewer a game between language and drawing and if possible, that this game leads to reflection.
His pieces are based on the word, and the word on drawing and color, thus creating a constant and difficult to separate framework.
The characters function, at times as alter egos of the author herself and at other times they simply show or establish cartographies of those things in life related to emotions, fears, dreams, expectations, everyday life.... This is why her work can be defined as personal and intimate with the desire to settle in the viewer's consciousness, without giving respite to evasion.
