Alberte Garibbo

France  • 1946

Alberte Garibbo was born in Monaco and spent her childhood in Gorbio.

Since childhood, she has been drawing and painting "First colored pencils, smell of paper, crunch of lead.

These memories are intact in my mind. I was five years old" after numerous stays in the center of France, Alberte Garibbo returned to Nice where she took courses at the "villa Thiole" School of Plastic Arts. There, she learned the techniques of engraving and its rigors, discovers the depths of BLACK and its dizziness.

In 1978 she met Jacques Matarasso, who through rigorous criticism made her understand that we must dare to do what we have deep within ourselves. 1979 beginning of her pictorial career, first group exhibition at the Hôtel des Moneaux in Paris - 1983 she won the Public Prize at the 8th Biennale of Modern Art in Nice - 1984 she participated in the 10th Biennale of Engraving in Krakow and obtains the Polish Museums Prize (purchase of the Wroclaw Museum) - 1985 at the Yokohama International Biennial his engravings allow him to participate in "Hanga annual" at the Tokyo Museum of Fine Arts (purchase of the Tokyo Museum) 1986 meeting with Alexandre de la Salle, start of a great and long collaboration, exhibition in his Gallery in St Paul every two years.

She presents large black canvases with a red line running through them, but trapped in the shine of the oil paint, she does research and develops a technique that she calls "airbrush black manner".

This fragile technique brings to the oil painting that she particularly likes, the warmth, the dullness and the velvety of engraving - 1995 she won the Painting Prize at the Beaulieu Arts Festival - She exhibited in the geometric movement in France and abroad - 1988 "Gilbert Brownstone" Gallery Paris - 1989 - 1990 "Convergence" Gallery Stockholm Fair Sweden, - 1993 "Art Today" Gallery Milwaukee USA - 1994 - 1995 "Sangiorgi Gallery" Bologna Fair, Italy, - 1995 "An abstract look" Museum of Modern Art Nice - 2002, "Marges de Silence" Galerie des Ponchettes Nice.

His research on Black, this non-color which becomes a luminous color through the profusion of its nuances, seduced Antonio Sapone who exhibited it in 2003, at the "CUII" Center Umanistico Incontri Internazionali, Antonio and Aka Sapone, Bellona, Italy. - 2004 "Galerie du Parc" Braunschweig RFA - "Clair & Obscur du Noir & du blanc" Carcès - "Clasing" Gallery Munster RFA - 2005 - Gorbio Abstract Art Space - "Martin-Blasselle" Gallery Nice - 2006 Gallery " Lucette Herzog" Paris - 2007 the exhibition "Noir Immaculé" will allow her to present this inexhaustible quest on the gaping tones of BLACK at the Galerie Sapone in Nice.
