serie “Pokémon Whispers on the Wall : Kawaii Plexiglass Chronicles".
In the vibrant tapestry of contemporary Japanese neo-pop art, the work of Saori Nakamishi, a dynamic artist from Studio CrazyNoodles, stands out for its whimsical charm and imaginative flair. Her round artwork, a part of the “Pokémon Whispers on the Wall: Kawaii Plexiglass Chronicles" series, is a captivating blend of playful nostalgia and modern artistic expression.
This particular piece showcases two beloved Pokémon characters, Mudkip and Charmander, enclosed within a circular Plexiglass frame. Mudkip, with its soothing blue hues and water-type essence, brings a sense of calm and tranquility, reminiscent of a serene aquatic landscape. In contrast, Charmander, a fire-type Pokémon, adds a vibrant energy to the composition. Its orange and fiery tones evoke the warmth and dynamism of a flickering flame, creating a beautiful elemental balance with Mudkip.
Encircling these plush figures are charming sentences in red and white Plexiglass letters, adding layers of meaning and interaction. “Will chu be my valentine" and “Saori love chu" are more than mere words; they are playful expressions of affection, typical of the kawaii culture that heavily influences Nakamishi's work. These phrases blend the world of Pokémon with the artist's personal touch, creating a direct and heartfelt connection with the viewer.
Further enhancing the artwork are the kawaii Plexiglass characters that adorn the piece. Each character, with its cute and emotive design, complements the Pokémon plushes, adding to the overall whimsical and endearing quality of the artwork. These characters, along with the playful phrases, create a narrative that transcends language and culture, speaking directly to the universal themes of friendship, love, and the joy of connection.
This artwork is a celebration of the magical world of Pokémon, a tribute to the enduring appeal of these characters that have captured the hearts of many. Through Mudkip and Charmander, Nakamishi explores themes of harmony and contrast, showcasing her ability to bring together diverse elements in a cohesive and engaging visual story.
In this piece, Nakamishi demonstrates her extraordinary talent for capturing the essence of contemporary pop culture while imbuing it with her unique artistic vision. The artwork stands as a testament to her creativity, her understanding of the power of pop culture in art, and her ability to evoke emotion and tell stories that resonate with a wide audience. It is a delightful celebration of the playful, the imaginative, and the heartfelt, all enclosed within the enchanting realm of a Plexiglass world.

Presentation
Her work is mainly realistic, yet deeply influenced by manga aesthetics and its topics. In her illustrations, She depicts beautiful and sexy young women, in a Lolita style. Erotic but innocent images of girls, with names like Cherry, Angel, Jewel or Heart surrounded by numerous fantastical creatures or symbols. Saori Nakamishi combines traditional Japanese manga and neo-pop colors in her works.
In 2005, she worked with the artist Hiro Ando to create an studio called "Crazynoodles Studio", dedicated to the promotion of young neo-pop artists inspired by Manga and Kitsch. Today the Studio represents 15 artists and distributes their work everywhere around the world, from Paris to Tokyo with a total freedom of expression. Crazynoodles tries to fight against western, somewhat elitist, art.
