A member of the Tendance Floue collective since 2010, Alain Willaume is a freelance photographer and curator and teaches at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Strasbourg and at the École nationale supérieure d'art de Nancy. He was one of the curators of the INDIA exhibition program he initiated at the Rencontres d'Arles 2007, and edited the book India Now: New Photographic Visions of Contemporary India published by Thames & Hudson and Textuel in 2007. He was also artistic director of India Photo Now 2008, a year of photography in India. His latest monograph, Bords du gouffre, was published by Textuel in Paris and exhibited at Rencontres d'Arles 2003. He won the Kodak Award for Photography Criticism, as well as the first prize in the 2011 Sony World Photography Award, Portrait category.
