Matthias Beckmann, born in 1965, completed his art studies with Prof. Franz Eggenschwiler at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and with Prof. Rudolf Schoofs at the Stuttgart Art Academy. His medium is drawing, which he sees as the foundation for conveying information to the perceived world.
For years he has been interested in drawing in public spaces, preferably museums and churches. However, the German Bundestag has also become the setting for his drawing analysis. He draws on site without photographic aids. Beckmann's line is of wonderful clarity and security, his drawing quality is respected internationally and he is rightly considered the master of the line.
