Presentation

Born March 1, 1888 in La Brévine, died March 16, 1969 in Neuchâtel. From 1904 to 1910, Matthey took lessons from Charles L'Eplattenier at the Art School of La Chaux-de-Fonds. He then studied in Munich and from 1912 to 1914 he was in New York. From 1920 to 1939, he lived in Paris before returning to settle in Neuchâtel. He returned to Switzerland during the war.


He painted numerous portraits and bouquets of flowers, as well as landscapes often inspired by his travels in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Holland.
