The artist explores the relationships that exist between the natural and the artificial, man and machine, the symbolic and the real.

Biography

Sergio Abrain (1952, Zaragoza) is a multidisciplinary artist: painter, designer, sculptor, engraver... He has also created numerous sets, scenographies and murals.

Between 1976 and 1978, he set up an alternative space in Zaragoza, "Pato-Gallo", where he organized exhibitions and events with a collective of Aragonese artists.

He continued his career as a painter and exhibited in the 80s in New York then in Italy in Vicenza, Cologne and in France in Bordeaux, St-Nazaire and Arles.

His work is featured in numerous international and private collections. He has received the I Bienal de Teruel Prize (Teruel), the Péon Prize (Zaragoza), the ACCA Prize (Catalonia).

For 25 years he dedicated himself to therapeutic art and worked in different mental health centers, including the Ramón Rey Ardid Foundation (Zaragoza).

A well-known Aragonese artist, the city of Zaragoza is dedicating a major retrospective to him in 2018 at La Lonja (The Stock Exchange).
