Artistes Chinois
Contrairement aux pays occidentaux et européens qui ont considéré les arts visuels comme étant essentiellement de la peinture et de la sculpture, la Chine pré-moderne tenait la calligraphie en grande estime. À partir du XXe siècle, tout ce qui entoure le discours esthétique a changé, et l'art chinois s'est considérablement élargi, de la peinture au mobilier. Sur la scène de l'art contemporain, la Chine a vu grandir un nombre important d'artistes talentueux qui aujourd’hui dominent le marché de l'art. Fruit d’un mélange éclectique, l'art chinois a évolué vers un mariage sophistiqué de matériaux et de références culturelles. Depuis des décennies, certaines des œuvres les plus imaginatives et les plus provocantes servent également d'inspiration à d'autres artistes contemporains. Prenez Ai Weiwei, par exemple, qui attire notre attention en sensibilisant, à travers ses œuvres, sur de graves injustices sociales. En produisant continuellement des œuvres audacieuses, il est devenu l'un des artistes chinois les plus célèbres au monde.
