Petit

L'art contemporain nous a souvent habitué à des oeuvres monumentales qu'il s'agisse de toiles, de sculptures ou d'installations gigantesques.

Cependant, le petit format a toujours fait partie de l'art contemporain! Que ce soit en peinture, en sculpture, en photographie, la dimensionnalité impose aux artistes diverses contraintes faisant éclore une technique et un langage artistique, tout en finesse.

« L'échelle d'une œuvre n'est pas une question de dimensions mais de rapports internes à la composition », déclare à juste titre Jeff Wall, photographe américain connu pour ses impressions de photos sur caisse éclairée de tailles gargantuesque.

Les oeuvres de petit format que l'on y croit ou non présentent de nombreux avantages. Les petits formats permettent en effet une grande mixité de techniques qui apparaissent parfois de meilleur qualité comme lorsqu'il s'agit de gravures ou d'éditions. Qui dit œuvre de petit format dit évidemment grande technique.

Le petit format permet d'acquérir des oeuvres d'artistes qu'on admire pour un prix plus raisonnable, et c'est aussi une super idée cadeau !

Plus pratique à exposer dans certains cas de figures que des oeuvres monumentales, on a tous une petite place vide sur une étagère prête à accueillir sculpture de format réduit, une photo, ou dessin petit format.

Autre chose très pratique avec ces oeuvres en modèle réduit c'est qu'il y a la possibilité de réaliser un mur de cadre, un étagère de statuettes etc. Qu'est ce qu'un mur de cadre me demanderez vous ? et bien il s'agit d'une composition de plusieurs cadres sur un même mur, est une vraie tendance de fond et une véritable mise en scène d'oeuvres d'arts qui habille parfaitement un mur de chambre ou de salon. Et puis lorsqu'il s'agit d'un coup de coeur, le petit format est d'un grand avantage en ce qui concerne l'accrochage puisqu'on lui trouve une place sans grande difficulté.

Même les artistes connus pour leurs oeuvres monumentales, se mettent finalement aux petits formats comme Jeff Wall lors de son exposition à la fondation Cartier.

Devenant une tendance dans le monde de l'art contemporain, le petit format s'impose! De Gaspard Mitz qui reproduit en taille réduite les plus grandes salles des musées d'art dans ses Box Stories ou encore le photographe Samsofy qui met en scène des légos qui deviennent acteurs de la vie quotidienne.
