Lifted by Love, 2025

Wasiu Akande

This artwork captures the deep emotional bond between a parent and child. Formed through layered textures and expressive strokes, the figures emerge from abstraction, symbolising strength, tenderness, and the timeless act of lifting one another—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Beyond the physical gesture, the work reflects the selfless nature of parental love and the quiet sacrifices that shape a child’s journey through life. It speaks to the comfort of knowing that there is someone who offers support, protection, and encouragement, even in moments of uncertainty. The composition celebrates the beauty of unconditional love, the strength found in family, and the invisible connection that continues to nurture us long after a moment has passed.

Ultimately, it is a reflection on love as both an anchor and a source of elevation—a reminder that sometimes, the greatest gift we can give another person is the strength and confidence to rise.
