Description
This is the first painting in the series Maybe I've Always Been Here. It is from this work that the artist begins the story and narrative line of the Goddess.
At the centre of a forest clearing stands a majestic blue Goddess. Tiny trees grow around her, emphasising her scale and presence. The painting speaks of memory, presence, and the timeless nature of spirit. It embodies the connection between the earth and infinity, a balance between the human and the divine. This work sets the tone for the entire cycle, immersing the viewer in an atmosphere where memory, presence, and a deep bond with nature intertwine across time and space.
Presentation
Olesia Miftahova is a Ukrainian artist based in Wales, United Kingdom.
Her practice explores how time reshapes memory and how ancient narratives transform through contemporary experience. Drawing on Celtic, Slavic, and Welsh mythology, alongside biblical imagery, she reinterprets archetypes as living forms that continue to evolve across generations.
Working primarily in acrylic, Miftahova employs symbolic imagery and a minimalist visual language to explore memory, mythology, and the shifting meanings of familiar symbols.
In 2025, she presented her solo exhibitions Garden of Memory and Garden of Memories: Growing Beyond in Wales. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv), POSK Gallery (London), and the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art.
