Description

A vivid arrangement of cobalt blue, golden yellow, emerald green, and fiery orange creates an abstract composition full of movement and unexpected contrasts. Thick, textured brushstrokes form irregular fragments reminiscent of an ancient mosaic or an imaginary map charting an adventurous journey.

Inspired by Homer's Odyssey, this original acrylic artwork explores wandering, endurance, and the universal longing for home. The shapes appear to collide, overlap, and flow in different directions, suggesting a journey filled with discoveries and unforeseen challenges. Deep navy and burgundy anchor the bright palette, while white passages provide breathing space within the energetic composition.

The artwork also introduces a planned ceramic piece titled Odysseus and Penelope. While the canvas expresses the unpredictable nature of travel, the future vase is intended to symbolize reunion, loyalty, and the completion of the journey. This relationship between two artistic mediums extends the work's literary inspiration.

With its expressive colors and layered symbolism, the artwork offers an engaging choice for collectors of contemporary abstraction, mythology-inspired art, and dynamic compositions.

Materials: Acrylic on canvas.

Shipping / Display: Ready to hang. The artwork is shipped in a protective box.

Colors & Shades

Cobalt blue, ultramarine, navy blue, emerald green, forest green, lime green, golden yellow, lemon yellow, amber, bright orange, burnt orange, deep burgundy, dark plum, ivory white, pale blush pink, charcoal gray.

For collectors drawn to bold abstraction, literary symbolism, and the idea of life as a journey. Particularly meaningful to admirers of Greek mythology, expressive color, and artwork that balances visual spontaneity with a thoughtful narrative.

An engaging accent for a contemporary living room, creative studio, home office, or eclectic interior. Its vivid colors work especially well against neutral walls, complemented by natural wood, dark blue furnishings, or understated decorative accessories.

Presentation

Lysi Tsvet is a contemporary artist working across painting and ceramics. Her work was presented at St. Petersburg Art Week at the exhibition halls of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists in 2026. Since 2020, she has studied painting privately with Mikhail Zhernosek, Honored Artist of Russia and member of the Union of Artists.

Growing up among the forests and fields of the Novgorod region shaped Lysi Tsvet’s lasting interest in organic forms, natural textures, and the beauty of imperfection. She works in oil and acrylic, moving between abstraction and figuration, while her ceramic practice is based entirely on hand-building with high-temperature clay and glazes.

Across both mediums, Lysi Tsvet deliberately avoids excessive symmetry and polish. She sees irregularity not as a flaw but as a quality shared by bodies, landscapes, trees, clouds, and other living forms. In ceramics, she sometimes takes impressions directly from natural objects, preserving their textures in clay and allowing the material to retain a sense of its origin.

Lysi Tsvet approaches artworks as “companions”—tactile, intimate objects meant to live alongside people. Her practice connects touch, memory, domestic space, and nature, inviting viewers to slow down and recognize beauty in things that remain uneven, changing, and imperfect.
