Original work on a map of the New York subway – September 2026

An essential figure in New York graffiti and a true legend of international Street Art, COPE2 (Fernando Carlo Jr.) has embodied the energy and authenticity of the Bronx urban culture for over four decades.

Born in 1968 in New York, he began graffiti in 1978 and quickly established himself as one of the major players in the movement. His interventions on the New York subway cars, his immediately recognizable lettering, and his famous works make him one of the emblematic signatures of the graffiti scene of the 1980s and 1990s.

His work has gradually crossed the boundaries of the street to join galleries, contemporary art fairs, and international private collections, without ever renouncing his origins.

Created in September 2026 on a map of the New York subway, this work testifies directly to this artistic heritage. The choice of support has a particularly symbolic dimension: the New York subway is indeed one of the historical cradles of graffiti, to which COPE2's career is intimately linked.

Through a spontaneous composition mixing spray paint, marker, vibrant colors, superimpositions, and characteristic lettering, the artist reinterprets this emblematic support of urban culture.

Each work has its own composition and constitutes an original piece, at the crossroads of the history of New York graffiti and contemporary art.
