Description
A figure in a white jersey stands out in the middle of an abundance of blue shapes and dark stripes. His body, represented in fragments, seems to extend into the fabrics or motifs that surround him; the face, partially cut by the upper edge of the canvas, also remains sketched. Turquoise, pale blue and white tones envelop the silhouette, while some orange accents punctuate the composition. The oblique lines and quick brushstrokes create an impression of movement, as if the decor waved around the body. The figure appears both present and almost dissolved in this vibrant space, between motif, memory and summer sensation.
Presentation
Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.
Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
