Description
This abstract composition explores the visceral language of color and memory. The canvas unfolds as a sequence of intuitive gestures. Broad vertical bands create a rhythmic architectural structure. A muted violet field anchors the left side. It contrasts with a vibrant pink and a deep, earthy green. These chromatic shifts suggest a fragmented landscape or a distant architectural facade.
The application of paint is physical and layered. Visible brushstrokes reveal a tactile energy. Natural pigments blend with synthetic hues to evoke a sense of place. Each section feels like a separate emotional state. The balance between fluid transitions and sharp boundaries guides the viewer's eye across the surface.
The influence of visual media is evident in the atmospheric depth. The artist treats the canvas as a cinematic frame. Organic forms emerge from the structured geometry. A sliver of pale cream provides a momentary light source against a dark burgundy edge. This tension between light and shadow adds a contemplative dimension to the artwork. The final result is a study of spatial perception and sensory intuition.
Presentation
Yulia Bulashenko (1990) is a Barcelona-based visual artist working primarily with abstract painting. Her practice explores color as a language through which to approach memory, emotion and the perception of place. Her compositions bring together organic and archetypal forms, intuitive gestures and shifting chromatic relationships, drawing from ancient visual languages and imagined landscapes.
Her background in film and visual media has influenced her approach to atmosphere and visual composition. In recent years, her work has evolved towards larger scales and a more material and research-driven practice, exploring the relationship between landscape, pigment and place through photography and experimentation with natural elements.
