Description
The artist captures here the essence of a port with a resolutely modern approach. The vertical lines of the masts soar with lightness against a deep blue background.
The gesture is sure. The acrylic is applied generously, mixing the brush and the knife to create tactile reliefs.
The blue dominates the composition. It dialogues with touches of pure white and flashes of solar yellow.
The hulls of the boats blend into the reflections of the water. The border between the sky and the sea becomes porous.
The balance rests on the opposition between the rigid structure of the rigging and the fluidity of the washes.
This work explores the serenity of a seascape while maintaining an abstract freedom.
The visual rendering evokes the changing light of the coast.
This painting dates from 2026.
Presentation
Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
