Description
The gaze drifts to a horizon where the sea and sky merge in a lunar clarity. A few sailboats are still, slender silhouettes cut out against a minimalist background. The artist plays with the material to suggest the movement of the water and the lightness of the wind.
The acrylic is worked with a knife to create tactile reliefs and transparency effects. Touches of blue, orange, and yellow come to punctuate the composition. These colored accents energize the space and draw the eye towards the center of the canvas.
The approach mixes abstraction and figuration with precision. The masts rise like graphic lines, while the reflections in the water stretch into horizontal lines. The scene captures a moment of serenity, between raw force and absolute calm.
The balance of cool and warm tones structures the image. This modern composition pays homage to the maritime universe through a free gesture. The work is distinguished by its luminosity and the fluidity of its lines.
Presentation
Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
