Description
An immediate immersion in the New York effervescence. The eye first catches the rhythmic alignment of the yellow taxis. Their shiny bodies dominate the foreground. They guide the eye towards the sidewalk's animation. The composition relies on a keen sense of spatial construction. The lines of the pedestrian crossing create a dynamic perspective. In the background, anonymous silhouettes are active in front of urban facades. The contrast between the saturated yellow and the dark tones of the pavement accentuates the visual effect. The acrylic execution blends the precision of the line with the generosity of the material. The style borrows from the codes of Pop Art to magnify everyday life. The light seems to burst from the metallic surfaces and the signs. Every detail contributes to accounting for the perpetual movement of the metropolis. The textured rendering brings a tangible relief to the scene. The artist captures the essence of a city that never sleeps. The whole is stabilized by the geometric rigor of the road markings.

Presentation

Born in 1955 in Bourg en Bresse (France), Pierre Barillot had the good fortune to master the art of representation, and from a very young age, drawing expressed the universe of his imagination.

At 16, Pierre Barillot wrote the news for a regional daily newspaper, and then his career as an architect offered him the paths of spatial construction, the wealth and happiness of being able to realize his dreams in stone.

For many years now, painting has joined his palette of artistic expression.

On his canvases, the drawing exists of course but also the generous, velvety, bewitching paste, sculpted with assurance in the most audacious colors sometimes.

Omnipresent movement, enriched with matter and light, represents the world and life. Always eager to explore, discover, and play with ever-reinvented gestures and tones, Pierre Barillot lets himself be guided by his dreams, using a sensitive and extremely controlled language.
