L'Idole d'Ébène bois loupe de bruyère et ébène, 2026

Stéphane Szendy

This stylized sculpture by Szendy Stephane leaps as a contemporary totem.
The work is based on a dialogue between noble and contrasting materials.
The top is composed of a carved wooden piece. Its organic nuances combine with dark and graphic insertions.
The body, made of bronze, features regular vertical grooves. This rigorous texture emphasizes the verticality of the silhouette.
Two thin curves suggest arms, bringing a slight dynamism to the composition.
The whole rests on a cylindrical base made of black stone. This massive pedestal stabilizes the work and anchors the lightness of the metal and wood.
The balance of volumes testifies to the precision of a goldsmith.
The interplay between the polish of the bronze and the natural grain of the wood creates a singular visual depth.
The object ends with a sharp contact between the golden metal and the dark minerality of the support.
