Description
In the Écorché series, Geoffroy Didier works with with layers of paint removed from walls in buildings undergoing demolition. Broken and recomposed, these surfaces retain cracks, losses and traces of previous layers. The title refers to the anatomical écorché: a body stripped of its skin to reveal what lies beneath. By isolating and recomposing these fragments, Didier preserves what would otherwise disappear and shifts them from discarded material to autonomous artworks.
