"Out of the Light" – Mark Hellbusch at ARTLET (February 15 – March 15, 2025)
From February 15 to March 15, 2025, ARTLET presents the latest exhibition by Mark Hellbusch, where color, light, and form merge into a fascinating visual experience. Under the title "Out of the Light", Hellbusch showcases a series of oil paintings that captivate with their expressive color compositions and fluid structures.
Between Abstraction and Form
Hellbusch’s paintings exist at the intersection of figurative and abstract art. His motifs—birds, fish, and crabs—appear only vaguely within the color fields, as if they are emerging from the light itself. His work strikes a balance between openness and structure, between spontaneous gestures and deliberate composition.
A distinctive feature of his paintings is the integration of the artist’s palette: color blends that would typically disappear during the painting process are intentionally incorporated into the composition. These traces add depth to the artwork and make the creative process itself an essential part of the visual language.
Painting as a Process of Discovery
Hellbusch experiments with the dynamics of color, layering, reworking, and revealing hidden nuances. His intuitive approach results in artworks that never feel static but rather seem to shift and transform over time. Viewers are invited to immerse themselves in the movement of colors and explore their own interpretations.
