Biography
Description artistic approach / Biography.
The German-born artist lives and works in Belgium, in Rhode-Saint-Genèse.
Passionate painter since the age of 12, he was initially influenced by German Romanticism and pre-Impressionists like Corot or Daubigny. Later his interest turned to the French and German Impressionists as well as the Leningrad School. Over the following decades, family and professional obligations slowly took over, until 2019, when he suffered a burnout. This event demanded a fundamental reorientation of his priorities and helped him rediscover his true passion, painting.
He shares with the Impressionists his love for nature and for light, the common thread in all his paintings.
But his motivation is more personal: “When I go out to paint, I stop where I really feel good and then I try to reproduce my moment in nature in the form of a painting. For me, these moments are often the first rays of sunshine in the morning, when nature slowly wakes up and I can enjoy the calm and a moment of meditation.
His favorite techniques are oil painting and occasionally dry pastels.
