Biography
Jean Rets, born in 1910 in Paris and died in 1998 in Liège, is a Belgian painter. It was in 1918 that the artist returned to Belgium in Liège, a city in which he continued a year of study, which he did not complete, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. It was in the 1950s that his abstract style developed more and more. In 1951, he met Victor Vasarely in Paris, this encounter decided the path that was to follow: he moved towards an increasingly geometric and strict abstraction. From then on, the curves of his works are flawless and the colors are treated in flat areas.
