"The painter and engraver, Caroline Gallois has drawn her inspiration from Baudelaire's poem. This double homage to painting and to poetry is expressed in a series of monotypes handled in an original way an using a wide range of materials. The artist has taken possession of Baudelaire's text, with its emblems of painters sculptors which she refers to through rich variations .The result is a dislocation of representation which echoes the viewer's gaze through the centuries. One thinks of Montaigne's declaration that : "I do not paint the state, I paint the passing over".
