Alex Mitrecey

Advertising, painter and musician, Alex is a storyteller with pixel, pen and brush. His artistic approach views painting as a large playground, where he can pay homage to his favorite artists such as Basquiat, Dubuffet and Picasso.

“At six years old, I crunched on dad’s shopping list. Between the sweet almond and the Swedish bread, a disjointed face joins its accomplices in the corner of the little Swiss.

At twenty years old, I draw on everything and anything. Especially on anything. Magazines abused, Moleskins abused. Anything that breathes urgency and chaos.

At twenty-five, my studio transformed into a playground. On my old childhood carpet, which experienced the joys of funky little cars, pots and paintbrushes are now circulating against the grain.

At thirty-three, I'm running at full speed. I spit my acrylic delirium at the top of my lungs. Between accidents and intentional road trips, the paint shatters on the wood and little by little fills the faces sculpted by the black felt."
