Biography
Jean Rigaud, born in Bordeaux in 1912, entered the Bexx Arts in 1930. In 1937, he painted a fresco "Lot et Garonne - Gers" with his father, also a painter, for the Guyenne and Gascony pavilion at the 1937 Universal Exhibition and they received a gold medal.
As a prisoner of war, he produced many sensitive drawings there. At the end of the war, he took part in the artistic recovery commission.
A lover of travel and the sea, he was appointed marine painter on January 1, 1956 and then became a permanent member on June 1, 1979.
He painted many canvases at the ïe d'Yeu, which he discovered in the 1950s and where he lived until the end of his life.
His paintings are exhibited in the greatest galleries around the world. Many works have been acquired by the French State, the City of Paris, the Marine Museum, etc.
