Completely self-taught, Benjamin Van Blancke has been drawing since childhood. After studying graphics and design in Germany, he carried out several large-scale commissions, notably for Les Belles Lettres and La Monnaie de Paris.
Along with this more illustrative part of his work, he is developing a very interesting personal production. Passionate about history and architecture, he likes to quote in his works various historical or architectural elements, and to confront them in anachronistic relationships. The artist thus offers the viewer the opportunity to meditate freely on the current world and its developments.
Adept at ink drawing, Benjamin works meticulously with hatching to put on paper the different shades of opacity of gray he is looking for. The influence of the Dutch Golden Age artists and their engravings, which he admires so much, is evident in his work.
