Biography

Patrick Mabrier was born in 1961. At thirteen, he discovered painting with a knife. And since then he has been painting. After a busy military career, he left his stars as a general to surrender to those of the infinite sky.

He owes his amazed and luminous vision of the world to the Impressionists, and to Odilon Redon the joy of chromatic sumptuousness. He shares with the latter the need to express the inexpressible. It is thus naturally that he finds in abstraction this grain of lyricism which allows him to transcend reality.

His work is the story of men and women immersed in the immensity of the Universe. In grandiose and dreamlike landscapes, filled with darkness and vertiginous falls through which light pierces, they are very present, between there and there, between yesterday and tomorrow. In transit, in search, facing the unknown of the next day.

This man, this woman laying there is each one of us. Let yourself be transported into this strange and familiar world at the same time. Let yourself be crossed. Try the experiment.

The artist conceives each of his works as a quest, his own but also that of the one who looks at the canvas. A brush in one hand, a knife in the other, he does and redo until he is touched by the paint, until he feels this void which makes the fullness of existence.
