Biography
Pierre-Olivier Cappello's abstract sculptures combine elegant and dynamic forms with play of light on the smooth and matte material of Picardy stone. The result, particularly aesthetic, gives off a mysterious, elusive aspect, which stimulates the imagination of the spectator, intrigued by the absence of a title to direct his interpretation. The coherence of the artist's work is not limited to the support of the stone, however, and we can detect a major research axis around the rhythm and harmony of lines. “I constantly seek to renew the forms that I use, nevertheless my work is oriented from three different axes: aesthetics, balance and proportion. "If Pierre-Olivier Cappello's sculptures are always abstract, they sometimes present, in the manner of Henry Moore, lines evoking bodies, fetishes, totems or even architectural elements:" I am inspired in a suggestive way several themes, in particular the human body, both feminine and masculine, and I try to crystallize my gaze on the curve and its aestheticism in my works ”.
