Brice Poircuitte

New Caledonia

Biography

Brice Poircuitte works in Nouméa. It is therefore far from recognized artistic centers that he visits urban cultures, drawing inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollock, Keith Haring, Enki Bilal or other Street Arts artists. Through drawing and painting, he likes to tell strange stories, where demons meet submarines, where giant wasps cross characters with round eyes. He creates a dreamlike world, where his signature often appears: "la tête à toto". Since 2015, he has been exploring new media, such as Melanesian objects: oars, masks or sculptures. He thus revisits Oceanic cultures.
