Presentation

Ivan Loubennikov is a painter and set designer whose work includes for example Mayakovsky Museum and metro stations in Moscow and in Paris. Influenced by European and Russian painting, his work appears like a visual game combining chiaroscuro, formal sleekness and extreme stylization. Through his hedonist topics (food, alcohol, Siberian landscapes) and his leitmotif which is woman (enchanting, matriarchal, sensual or grotesque), Ivan Loubennikov describes himself and his environment with a sense of humor and rigor that has made him an attentive observer of the history of Russia. His work is part of many public and private collections such as State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Russian Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, Peter Ludwig Museum.
