Biography
Based in Toledo and born in 1982, WESL is a Spanish artist who started doing graffiti in 1991. He studied computer engineering at ESI (Escuela Superior de Informatica). Then moved towards ESDIP (Escuela Superior de Dibujo Profesional). He worked for 10 years in the field of computer engineering, then decided to break away from this profession, letting his passion take over.
His art then became his way of life, exploring and sometimes combining abstraction and realism, bringing two facets to his art. His particularly aesthetic language is characterized by an almost acrobatic use of color in moving and undulating shapes, volume effects and transparencies which blend together like tones and rhythms. An almost hypnotic style, entirely done with spray paint, occasionally invading other stylistic aspects.
Both in his abstract works and in his more realistic ones, we can appreciate a subtle point in the way he treats the blurry parts of his productions. The generous use of tones in color gradients gives his works a unique softness. Avant-gardism, technology and urban art consolidate Wesl's vision.
