Biography
Came to America some time before 1844, when he was first listed in the Philadelphia directory. He may have been in NYC before this, since his wife, Eliza C. Bourquin, was born there c. 1820 and his brother [presumably], Frederick Bourquin (see entry), lived there for a number of years before coming to Philadelphia c.1843. In 1850 Charles and Frederick Bourquin lived in adjoining houses in Philadelphia. Charles Bourquin's household included his wife, and their daughter, Margaret E., aged 7 and a naive of Pennsylvania. Bourquin was living in Philadelphia as late as 1861.
