Biography
Artist Statement:
I am a painter and mixed media artist based in New York City. My work focuses on juxtaposition of color, depth, and texture. Within my abstracts, paint is often added and subtracted simultaneously using a variety of tools including some that have been created/modified to support a specific project. In each painting, I create numerous distinct moments of interaction between colors/textures that generate constant energy as the viewer's eye scans, focuses, and re-scans the canvas.
I draw on several influences ranging from the rich cultures and colorful traditional art experienced while growing up in New Mexico to the dynamism, diversity, and power of major 24-hour cities worldwide. My work is featured in multiple corporate offices and private residences in the United States and UK as well as in Professional Artist Magazine.
Education:
I have a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree from Cornell University.
Awards & Distinctions:
- In 2017, I had two paintings featured in Professional Artist Magazine
- I was shortlisted for the 2018 Rise Art Prize (top 1% out of 16,000 submissions)
- WeWork purchased a painting for its new London office and licensed the image for advertising
