Biography
Sean Cheetham is an American artist born in 1977 in San Francisco. He studied at the College of San Mateo, in California, and earned a B.F.A. degree from Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, California. Today he teaches painting at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art.
Sean Cheetham is known for his figurative painting with "alla prima" oil, of striking realism and based on his deep understanding of drawing and his own mixing of colors. Daily urban scenes inspire him, which contributes to the truth and contemporaneity of his canvases that appear as true witnesses of our time. It is the alliance of a classical technique and very contemporary subjects that create the uniqueness of this young artist.
The paintings of Sean Cheetham have been included in numerous international exhibitions including at the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2005. In 2006, Sean Cheetham had his first personal exhibition at the Mendenhall Sobieski Gallery in Pasadena. He was also published in the "American Artist's Workshop" magazine.
