“Ilhua" Painting: Enchanting Landscape and Imaginary Realism by Françoise Leblond

The painting entitled “Ilhua" by the painter Françoise Leblond is a work visually rich in details which invites spectators to a careful exploration to discover all the subtleties it contains. The canvas captures an enchanting and fanciful landscape, typical of the artist's distinctive style, which she calls "imaginary realism."

At first glance, the viewer is immediately transported into a dreamlike world where a floating island, like a suspended oasis, rises above a sea with shimmering green reflections. This island is inhabited by a picturesque village with pink houses with blue roofs, and a few round towers which give a medieval atmosphere to the landscape. The watchful trees, with their large mouths and expressive eyes, seem to monitor the horizon on both sides of the island, creating a sense of life and awareness within nature.

The sky stretching above the island has a gradient of colors from orange to blue, harmonizing perfectly with the sea. On the horizon, gentle hills emerge from the sea, creating a perspective in three dimensions which reinforces the illusion of depth and space in the composition.

However, the true magic of the painting lies in the details that emerge as the eye explores each corner of the canvas. A feeling of celebration and celebration emanates from the village, where locals seem to be out enjoying the day. A musician playing the guitar, perhaps also singing, attracts attention with his cheerful melody. At his side, a trumpeter adds a festive touch to the atmosphere, creating a dynamic contrast between the musical sounds and the visual atmosphere of the painting.

Movement is omnipresent in “Ilhua". A couple dances to the rhythm of the music, adding a romantic note to the whole thing. Another couple sits at the edge of the island, watching the festivities with an air of contentment On the outskirts of the island, two figures stand on pontoons, welcoming snails carrying helical shells, which rise with the help of ropes to reach dry land. This detail brings a playful touch to the scene.

The painting does not lack creativity with its representation of flying fish which are a recurring element of Françoise Leblond's style. These fish carry unusual characters and objects. Two flying fish are heading towards each other, carrying respectively a man sitting on a boat with a tree inside, and a young woman standing on the fish's head. She is impatient to find her lover sitting under a colorful parasol.

This scene evokes the desire and eagerness for reunion, creating a captivating visual narrative.

The multicolored birds and flying fish that populate the sky add a feeling of freedom and escape to the composition. They seem to be in harmony with the village and participate in the general celebration.

“Ilhua" belongs to the “Tableaux Realisme Imaginaire" series, a collection in which the artist explores his unique vision of the world by merging real and imaginary elements. The painting perfectly sums up the style of Françoise Leblond, who not only reproduces reality, but transforms it into a new and enchanting reality. Each carefully thought out and skillfully executed detail adds a layer of meaning and emotion to the work.

In short, “Ilhua" is much more than just a painting. It is an invitation to explore a world where imagination blends with reality to create a captivating visual experience. Françoise Leblond brilliantly succeeds in capturing the wonder and strangeness of life through her imaginative realism, inviting viewers to see beyond the limits of reality and embrace the magic of dreams.

Françoise Leblond is a French painter and sculptor, member of the Taylor Foundation. After studying art at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and a diploma in interior architecture at the Académie Charpentier in Paris, she learned the techniques of faux wood and faux marble at the École Blot in Reims, as well as as the art of trompe l'oeil and wall frescoes at IPEDEC in Pantin. She worked as a decorator for architectural firms and for entertainment before devoting herself fully to painting and sculpture in 2002, the year in which she created the Elvina gallery workshop. Since then, she has exhibited her work in France and abroad, with works present in public and private collections.

Artistic approach:

Françoise Leblond, painter and sculptor, is distinguished by an artistic approach that fuses imagination and reality, thus creating a universe where the border between the concrete and the abstract blurs. His works, whether paintings or sculptures, are imbued with a singular aesthetic that invites reflection and escape.

Françoise Leblond's “imaginary realism" paintings reveal a metaphorical quest for reality beyond its tangible appearances. His paintings, imbued with a captivating aesthetic, depict a universe where the strange and the marvelous mingle in a dreamlike dance. Through evocative shapes and suggestive colors, the artist invites the viewer to introspection, to a reassessment of their own perception of the world.

With her “Poetic Abstraction Paintings", Françoise Leblond transports us to a space where color and form unite to evoke pure emotions and a contagious joie de vivre. His fantastical creatures and abstract landscapes are an ode to spontaneity and creative freedom.

His “Poetic Abstraction" sculptures are manifestations of his fertile imagination and technical mastery. Each piece is a celebration of form and space, where the artist plays with materials to bring emotions and stories to life. Françoise Leblond uses materials such as aluminum or stainless steel to create works that are both modern and timeless.

In her paintings “Grands Maîtres revisited" Françoise Leblond plays with the rules of classical and contemporary art with a unique sense of aesthetics With discretion and audacity, she revisits the paintings of great masters to give them new life, thanks to her pictorial technique. She manages to create works of art that are both funny and poetic, while maintaining high standards in the quality of her work.

In her paintings “Anthropomorphic Cats" Françoise Leblond has an innate talent for transforming cats into funny and endearing anthropomorphic characters in her paintings. It gives them a unique personality and endows them with human gestures and behaviors that are both amusing and moving. She paints cats with freedom, without constraint or concern for realism, and this freedom is contagious. She manages to capture their curious nature, their grace and their undeniable charm.

Françoise Leblond was able to create a real world of cat sculptures that reflects her personality and her love of life. Through her stylized cat sculptures, she manages to convey pure and sincere emotion. Each of his works is unique and exudes a singular aura that invites the viewer to let themselves be carried away by their imagination.
