Son of Bernard Cahier, a famous motor racing photographer, Paul-Henri Cahier, born in 1952, fell into the soup as a child. The world's most famous drivers parade through his house. When the holidays come around, Bernard sometimes takes his son to the racetracks.
Paul-Henri learned on the job, and learned quickly. At 15, he published his first "double" in the magazine "Champions." Despite this, the adolescent desire to differentiate himself was powerful, and until the age of 30, the son would try to distance himself from his father, traveling the world in search of adventure, trying other modes of expression, painting, music. But the photographer was always there, in temporary hibernation, but ready to awaken. Forays into the closed world of Formula 1 were sporadic over the years, but from 1982, Paul-Henri made the decision to express himself artistically through Formula 1 photography, and began his professional career.
In an ultra-competitive world where commerce takes precedence over sport, he will be particularly interested in the graphic aspect, without neglecting the human side of these men who continue to defy fear.
Over the years, he has established himself as one of the leading photographers, constantly seeking to push the conventional boundaries of an ultra-competitive environment, standing out with his ever-new and creative work.
The Leica 3G and its 50mm are long gone, replaced by the Canon EOS 1Ds and the 600mm. But the saga continues, and father and son share their archive of more than 60 years spent in intimate contact with the knights of speed.
