In the vast Karamoja region of Uganda lives the Karamojong community, united across seven clans. Rooted in ancient pastoral traditions, they have faced internal conflicts and external challenges, ranging from clashes with other ethnic groups to disputes with the authorities. Cattle ownership is central to their economy and cultural identity, with the clans relying on innovative methods to manage their herds in this semi-arid landscape. Water scarcity often forces the clans to migrate, sparking conflicts over resources and making food production even more difficult.
It was in this wild and majestic setting that I began my photographic project, drawn to the lives of four young men: Angura, Houlong, Lotyang, and Homuren. Their lives revolve around protecting their herds, bound by a powerful brotherhood. Observing their daily lives, I witnessed the depth of their connection, not only with each other but also with their animals, which represent a spiritual link to nature. Armed with bows, they face the challenges of nomadic life, defending their herds against frequent threats.

Presentation
Born in France, Claudia Revidat is a photographer and filmmaker. Her work lies at the intersection of documentary and contemporary art. She explores the dialogue between the intimate and the universal, blending photographic approach, anthropological research, and visual experimentation.
Discovering photography at a young age as a refuge and a language in its own right, she found in it a way to transform her wounds into creative material. Her work delves into memory, vulnerability, and the human capacity for reconstruction, weaving together the personal and the collective in a single breath.
Driven by a profound desire to understand both others and herself, Claudia seeks to create authentic connections with the people she photographs. Her artistic journey began in Mongolia, during an initiatory voyage in search of meaning and belonging, which gave rise to Youth of Land, a celebration of youth around the world.
For more than ten years, she has immersed herself in the heart of isolated communities, from the steppes of Mongolia to the Maasai tribes of Kenya, from the Kogis of Colombia to the peoples of India, Ethiopia and Uganda, shaping a profoundly human, sensitive and committed body of work.
Her long-term project, Women of Fire, has been recognized by the In Cadaqués Festival, the PhotoVogue Festival in Milan, and the Prix Pictet. Her images have also been published in the Prix Pictet book, revealing the strength and resilience of Mursi and Surma women in Ethiopia through powerful and vibrant portraits.
In 2025, his series Sentinels of Karamoja, dedicated to the fragility and dignity of the Karamojong people in Uganda, was exhibited in Milan by PhotoVogue.
His series From Dusk Till Dawn, winner of the RPBB Audience Award, is currently being presented on the railings of the Léon Blum square in Boulogne-Billancourt.
