Born in Marseille, Aurélie Charles comes from an ancient Provençal and Mediterranean family where the sea, the arts, history, and science go hand in hand.
From her childhood, Aurélie keeps a lot of noises, colors, travels, pigments, and sweets but above all a lot of anecdotes and a sweet mix of old and modern.
As a fragile health child, Aurélie Charles walked through medical waiting rooms with multiple drawings and huge paintings that fascinated her, so much that her pediatricians would often say she would be an artist.
After studying visual arts and art history in Aix-en-Provence, Aurélie Charles moved to Paris and settled there for about ten years to attend classes at the Louvre School and two prestigious design colleges.
A foot in both worlds, the applied arts find her too « plastic » while plastic artists think she was too rigid or too smooth! Aurélie Charles returned to Marseille where she left the pictorial arts and interior design behind her, to try the adventure of publishing and graphic design.
A degenerative disease will force her to leave the digital arts world completely after an essay of graphic novel, a collaboration in art and essay cinema as well as one-off graphic projects in Benin, Pisa, New York, Madagascar.
Aurélie Charles then takes care of herself, she lives, teaches life to her daughter. Unable to bring herself to tidy up her archi table, she then resumes the brushes and takes out her first abstract collection on the theme of the sea, revolted to suffer a neglected Mediterranean and muffled with butts and garbage.
A first exhibition experience for a few months then her paintings will go on a trip. Orders will follow, private lessons, workshops and live painting will make her want to grow.
In early 2020, Aurélie Charles finds her visual identity and goes back to the assault of Instagram where she is quickly spotted. Finally, major exhibitions, in Genoa and then in Milan and primers in New York.
