Presentation
Born in 1984 in Marseille, Grégory Brun has been a Parisian by adoption for more than fifteen years. After studying literature, he worked for many years in commercial management before coming back to his first love and becoming a bookseller.
Totally self-taught, Grégory Brun started by practicing drawing as a child, before learning different painting techniques; oil is now preferred.
The urban environment, bubbling and dynamic, fascinates and inspires him. Thus, in addition to Paris, he often travels to major European capitals: Barcelona, London, Rome, or Amsterdam.
Arts, architecture, food, museums, or theatres are all assets and discoveries that shape his culture and creativity.
Through his painting, Grégory Brun expresses an effervescence, a need to produce. This creative dependence comes as a loophole for him.
Women are an absolute source of inspiration for him. Idealized, they become heroines of a universe bordering on the real and the abstract. These feminine representations flourish in a fantasy, idealized world, where sensuality is omnipresent.
Fueled by Art Nouveau and Abstract Art, Grégory Brun is deeply inspired by Klimt and Mucha. Constantly thinking, his work evolves and develops constantly to create a universe of his own.
"The work of Grégory BRUN is powerful! His creations imbued with depth and modesty demonstrate an impressive mastery of the gold leaf that is reminiscent of Gustav Klimt's "Golden Cycle."
His way of working with faces and his compositions obviously remind us of the classical Russian period of Vroubel and Vasnestov.
This is an artist that we should hear about in the next few years."
