Presentation
Zondile Zondo is part of the Ubuhle collective. The Ubuhle collective was founded in 1999 following the meeting of Bev Gibson and beadwork artist Ntombephi Ntobela.
Amazed by the embroidered canvases of Ntombephi, Bev proposed to Ntombephi the creation of Ubuhle to bring together a group of women artists from this rural area, supply them with the highest quality beads and to organize travelling exhibitions of their works.
Ubuhle has given this collective of rural woman financial independence and the freedom to create intimate and personal works.
Ubuhle beadworks have been exhibited by the Smithsonian Institution Museum of African Art in United States and are exhibited for the first time in France at Bonne Espérance Gallery.
