Saül Steinberg is a designer, originally from Romania, born in 1914 in a Jewish family.
After studying literature in Bucharest, Saül emigrated to Italy in 1933, to run away from the anti-Semitic build up in Eastern Europe. He studied architecture in Milan in 1940.
Saül Steinberg began to publish his designs in Italy in several magazines, he was quickly acknowledged for his unique and original strokes. His drawings were published in famous American magazines. The European political context pushed him to emigrate to U.S.A this time.
Famous for his caricatures and collaborations with the New Yorker, Saul has a lively style and sharp eye. Due to these qualities, his drawings are able to convey quick and simple messages, and this what his his spectators love.
