Biography
Chen Weinan is a Chinese artist who lived and worked in Shanghai, dedicating his life to art education and oil painting. Born in the 1940s, he had a strong artistic background, having studied under renowned artists such as Li Hua, Zhao Zongzao, and Zhao Yannian. A music enthusiast from a young age, he was also deeply influenced by his father, Chen Yanqiao, one of the pioneers of the Chinese New Woodblock Print Movement.
Chen Weinan's work is characterized by an expression of the moment and a manifestation of the emotions that move him in response to the subjects he encounters, for which he creates an instant and vigorous imprint. His landscape paintings are majestic, richly colored imprints that vibrate with allure.
Chen Weinan has dedicated his life to teaching art and creating oil paintings. Now over 80 years old, he continues to travel and create numerous works inspired by the landscapes he encounters and that fascinate him. His brushstrokes are sometimes vigorous and powerful, sometimes soft, light, and passionate.
