Presentation

French artist of Italian origin, born in 1976, Béatrice Striolo first devoted herself to the competition for restorers of works of art, then her higher studies, particularly in art history, theater, cinema and visual arts. will open up to the spirit of research as well as to its artistic mediation.

It is quite naturally from her mixed university thesis on the theme of Assembly and Dismantling as a creative process, at the University of Paris VIII, that she decides to explore the theme for many years to come, through artistic research. protean through: painting, installation, plastic photography and hybrid digital drawing.

Now she devotes herself exclusively to her art. She likes to work solo and sometimes in the midst of other artists, walking between her personal studio in the Paris region and "at 100", an art center of shared workshops bringing together theater artists, visual artists and photographers.

The collection of a multitude of personal sketches detached and cut out unceremoniously in his sketchbooks have no stylistic or technical limitations. They are often carried out in situ, at will, in Parisian cafes, gardens and museums. It is the overlap and recurring confrontation of all his pictorial and graphic plastic experiences that led him to imagine a two-dimensional space like a "millefeuille". It is made up of multiple layers and assemblages of pictorial and graphic fragments of all kinds, by spontaneous superimpositions and overlaps at first, handmade, then by a much longer temporality, made of numerous digital layers. This "den" space leads its subject to question the relationship between "being and the flesh" *, ".... Deepens our desire to enter into a relationship and explore this" flesh of the world "that is the 'being "(* Being and flesh, from body to desire, the ontological empowerment of the flesh, Emmanuel de Saint Aubert).

The culmination of the "design" takes place first of all through a resilience and not a formal detail of the image. This outcome is embodied by its fine art lithographic print, undergoing a final phase of rework. Indeed, this 1st Test lithograph will then be scanned and drawn again to materialize certain parts of the image in order to slide from this digital mental space to the material space of the paper. A process both unconscious and distant, experienced as a real catharsis, born of desires, frustrations and sometimes even suffering.

Béatrice Striolo stages beings of a strange eloquence "of being and of flesh", beings tinged with a sweet melancholy sometimes endowed with a certain fury for life. There is also a powerful embrace of loved ones, a work created during the relentless health measure of distancing. Performing artists who could not play "live" but who have remained "alive" in our perceptual memories.
