Biography

Bernard Dufour is a French painter, photographer and writer, born November 21, 1922 in Paris and died July 21, 2016 in Foissac in Aveyron.

An agricultural engineer by training, Bernard Dufour came to painting after World War II. He is first the author of an abstract work before turning to figuration from the 1960s. He then painted many self-portraits and portraits of relatives, as well as nudes.

Painter of the intimate, close to Jean Genet, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Claude Ollier and Pierre Guyotat, we can see his paintings in the film La Belle Noiseuse by Jacques Rivette. He also testified in the documentary film Mise à nu by Corinne Espagno.
