Description
The image unfolds like a dreamlike landscape. Blue dominates the composition. It stretches in horizontal bands. Shades of azure and indigo interweave. The material seems liquid. It flows on the paper. Vertical streaks mark the left edge.
The space is rhythmized by circular shapes. Three light orbs float in the blue. They evoke stars or lunar reflections. Light passes through the layers of color. A play of transparency is perceived. The white background of the support contributes to the luminosity.
The line is fluid. Movement guides the gaze. The composition oscillates between abstraction and natural evocation. Wavy lines suggest waves or mountain reliefs. The visual balance rests on the contrast between the density of the deep blue and the clarity of the clean areas.
This creation explores depth and lightness. It presents itself in the form of a work on paper mounted on canvas. The pigments gradually fade towards the margins. The final rendering emphasizes the nuances of the medium used: cyanotype.
Presentation
Painter and visual artist.
Born in Nuremberg in 1969, her artistic vocation was obvious and came naturally to her. She studies fashion design between 1988 and 1991, and took in parallel various plastic art courses in Paris, then in Salzburg and Hamburg. When Nina Urlichs started her artistic career, in 1998, her universe and her pictorial language were already formed. She began producing paintings but very quickly, her research on transparency lead her to experiment with gauze textiles, an original media that broadened her reflection on prints and movement.
She has shows regularly in France (Paris, Troyes, Nantes, Lyon... ), in Germany, Austria, Italy... She has been living in France for many years, and today she lives and works between Germany and her workshop in the Marais district in Paris.
