Description
Cathedrals, the cathedral... a building, an inspiring home... and in creation a magnificent opportunity to play with lines, shift them, renew balances. To find resonances between pictorial creation and architecture. To play with the complicity of the circle and the square, fundamental elements of architectural balances.
An opportunity also to pay homage to the builders of these great sacred residences.
Marie-Odile Wagner is a painter and engraver, her works are close to the current of geometric abstraction. It is through games of forms, juxtapositions or variations of colors that the gaze can invent a pictorial dialogue.
I like minimalism, simplicity, the play of lines, the play of colors to resonate with the shapes. I like to create series, multiple variations around a pattern. Paper is one of my favorite supports.
For this canvas, two hanging directions are possible
Presentation
Marie-Odile Wagner is a visual artist. In 2001 she undertook art studies and obtained a master's degree in visual arts at the Marc Bloch University in Strasbourg.
His pictorial research is developed around the trace and the imprint. She uses different techniques, painting, engraving, collage, sculpture, which she practices jointly or not. They enrich each other, and reveal constants: the quest for
relief and concern for matter, research around light, the visible and the invisible.
The light slides and reveals what the eye had not perceived at first. Creating brings into play the body, the use of hands, touch and sight, sensuality, transformation.
“Artistic creation for me keeps traces of the craftsman's practice. It is, at the crossroads between the different materials, the expression of an interior journey as of a vital opening to another. "
