Description

A bouquet bursts forth at the heart of the canvas, like a spontaneous celebration frozen in time. Against this deep, almost cosmic black background, the flowers don't grow: they spring forth. Thick outlines, drawn with a free and instinctive gesture, sketch imaginary corollas, somewhere between pop naivety and urban energy.

The colors—solar yellow, soft pink, incandescent orange, acid green, pastel blue—intertwine without ever clashing. They dance. They overflow. Some drip in fine drops, as if the paint refused to stop, extending the movement beyond the gesture.

Splashes punctuate the whole, like sparks, adding rhythm and vibrancy. One can almost sense the artist's hand: quick, joyful, almost childlike, yet perfectly controlled. Beneath this apparent chaos, a dense and balanced composition is revealed, centered, almost circular—like a contained floral explosion.

It is a work that breathes raw joy, spontaneity, a reinvented spring… something alive, vibrant, that does not seek to imitate nature, but to capture its momentum.

Isabelle Pelletane, Pop Flowers Black
France  • 1969

Presentation

Isabelle Pelletane is a painter born in 1969 in the Paris region. She now lives and works in Poitou-Charentes, where she develops an artistic practice deeply rooted in color, gesture and emotion.

Art has been a part of Isabelle Pelletane's life since childhood. After studying psychology, she spent several years living abroad. These travel experiences profoundly shaped her artistic sensibility: the landscapes, light, and color palettes she encountered during her travels nourished her imagination and influenced her pictorial language.

Upon returning to France, she embarked on a genuine artistic exploration of the relationship between human beings and their natural environment. Through her works, she explores this interaction with an instinctive and sensitive approach.

Her spontaneous and vibrant painting is characterized by free and dynamic gestures. Isabelle Pelletane works with her materials with energy, allowing compositions to emerge where colors and movements converse in a resolutely positive expression. Her paintings often evoke a luminous and optimistic vision of the world, like a celebration of life and love.

Rooted in an approach akin to abstract expressionism, her work is constantly evolving, driven by intuitive research and a great freedom of execution.

Isabelle Pelletane has presented her work at numerous exhibitions in France and internationally. Her works are now featured in several private collections in France and abroad.
